2021 U.S. Championship Series Volunteers Needed!!

We are so excited for our upcoming US Championship Series Competition, to be hosted at The Cooler in Alpharetta from November 16-20. We are looking forward to seeing over 200 skaters from across the US as they seek to qualify for spots at Nationals!

We are counting on our Club families to make sure we can execute this competition — we can’t make this work without you. Spectators will NOT be allowed at the competition this year, so your only way to watch this fantastic event is to participate in volunteering!
Running a safe competition is our top priority, so volunteer slots will look quite different from past competitions. Our goal is to strictly limit the number of skaters allowed within the building and move them through in small groups as needed for their events. We are seeking volunteers for the following activities:
  • airport transportation for judges to and from Hartsfield-Jackson
  • greeters to answer questions and organize skaters into groups outside
  • competition ice ushers to move groups of skaters into the building to competition ice
  • practice ice ushers to move skaters to and from practice ice
  • bleacher monitors to seat parents in the bleachers
  • registration staff to check in skaters and judges and monitor temperatures
  • transportation volunteers to drive judges to/from the hotel
  • setup/teardown crew to set up tables/chairs
As a reminder, all AFSC member families are expected to provide 8 hours of volunteer time per year. Since volunteer opportunities are more limited this year, we strongly encourage you to participate in this competition!
To sign up, please visit https://m.usfigureskating.org/volunteer-opportunities. Log in with your USFS skater number — parents, please use your own number, not your skater’s! — and you should see the competition displayed under Upcoming Events. Fill in the Volunteer Request form and confirm your contact info, and you will then be able to select your shift(s). Make sure you fill in all red areas, including emergency contact info.
For all questions about membership numbers, please contact Lindsay McDaniel at lindsay.lafleur@hotmail.com. Non-USFS member volunteers are welcome too! To register as a non-member volunteer, please contact Atlee directly, and we’ll get you entered into the system.
Sign-ups are first come first serve, and all volunteers must be age 18 or over. To minimize volunteer coming and going, the competition days will be divided into 3 shifts of approximately 5 hours each. You must be prepared to work the entire shift — no half shifts! And while the days are long, keep in mind that the most senior skaters skate in the evenings, so these volunteers will have a front-row seat to watch national-level competitors!
For questions about volunteering, please contact Atlee Breland, the Volunteer Chair, at atleebreland@gmail.com
Thank you for your help in making this exciting event possible!
